The automatic transmission is good as is the inbuilt satnav. So far we’ve only driven the latter and its outright acceleration is impressively rapid – 0-62mph takes just 6.1sec, but there’s a bit of a delay between putting your foot down and it really starting to pick up speed on the move. The overall effect is as subtle as you might expect – which is to say that anyone whose boat wasn’t floated by the 3008 before is unlikely to see anything here to change their mind. Although SUVs are never as agile as conventional hatchbacks, some are still surprisingly good fun to drive. It’s rather pricey, but performance is strong, although you do need to work it harder than equivalent engines in rivals, such as the Skoda Karoq. Then there are the plug-in hybrid versions. The range starts with a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre BlueHDI diesel, each producing 129bhp. The Hybrid4’s four-wheel drive system helps with traction out of tight bends, but the extra weight of its bulky battery makes it feel slightly more ponderous than non-hybrids. Of course, beyond the visual stimuli, the 3008 needs to be practical, cheap to run and good to drive if it’s to succeed in this extremely competitive class. And remember that the i-Cockpit layout works better here than in many other Peugeots; the digital instrument panel in particular is crisp, clear and smoothly animated. The Peugeot 3008 is practical, good to drive, comfortable and packed with high-tech equipment. There’s just the one diesel available. The family SUV class moves at a breathtaking pace, but the revised 3008 still sits somewhere near the top of it. Allure, Allure Premium and GT offer this variety, along with the pair of plug-in editions that were introduced at the start of 2020 on the pre-facelift model: the 221bhp Hybrid and the 296bhp, dual-electric-motor Hybrid4. The gearbox plays its part in this, for it’s an intelligent, smooth-shifting unit that you’ll soon be comfortable using. The 3008 is still based, of course, on the PSA Group’s EMP2 platform – hence the plug-in hybrid editions – and that continues to be a solid set of underpinnings. All models get DAB radio and Apple CarPlay smartphone connectivity, while MirrorLink will hook into selected mobile apps. Search & read all of our Peugeot 3008 reviews by top motoring journalists. The top of the range is based on GT – which has LED headlights, a contrast black roof, adaptive cruise control, and Alcantara and leather upholstery. Is it an improvement. On the whole, the 3008 remains impressively refined, particularly on motorways, where wind noise is well suppressed and the engine is quiet. Peugeot 3008 SUV review ... equipped with a standard eight-speed automatic transmission. You’re therefore unlikely to have any more fun than you would in a regular 3008 despite all that power. It taps right into the current trend for bold styling, whereas its predecessor, a former What Car? The rear tailgate is split like that of the 4007 SUV, so while the top section lifts up like a hatch, the bottom one drops down to form a convenient loading platform that can hold 200kg. The layout up front is possibly a little fussy, but there’s no denying that it feels a special place to sit. How does it stack up? After hedging its bets with the crossover/ MPV looks of the Mk1, the current Peugeot 3008 is a genuine front-runner in the crossover class. A former What Car? Classy, comfortable and great for safety. GT Premium, meanwhile, loses the manual gearbox options but adds an additional high-powered petrol, a 1.6-litre PureTech with 178bhp. So, stick with us and we'll steer you through the maze of engines, trim levels and options available. Most importantly, PSA took the opportunity to announce that the next and third generation Peugeot 3008 will be produced at Sochaux, in the Doubs (25), … Other improvements Peugeot made onto the 3008's cabin include new types of Nappa leather trim, Dark Lime Wood accents, and a new frameless rearview mirror. The Peugeot 3008 2021 is the SUV version that manages to stand out in one of the most competitive segments thanks to its good balance between form and function. These revised specs actually represent more significant change than there is in the technical line-up, because the 3008 sticks with its proven range of powertrains. It’s perhaps a little frustrating that Peugeot hasn’t used this opportunity to install a wider range of electrified versions, including some mild hybrids to sit alongside the pricier plug-ins. It’s perhaps a little frustrating that Peugeot hasn’t used this opportunity … The 1.2 PureTech petrol engine is very smooth and quiet, and the 1.5 HDi diesel isn’t far behind, with just a little bit more grittiness and vibration. The 3008 is certainly an interestingly designed car. Photos (164) The Peugeot 3008 spearheaded something of a new lease of life for the French brand when it released in 2016. The tiny steering wheel probably contributes to this; it’s connected to a fairly light set-up that does no better a job of telling you what the front wheels are doing than pretty much any of the 3008’s usual rivals – with the possible exception of the Ford Kuga. The family SUV class doesn’t stand still, though, so Peugeot now has an updated 3008 for 2021. It's also one of the best crossovers on sale, which is saying something given the strength … The exterior tweaks are typical facelift fare, to be frank – which is to say that there are revisions to plastic components but nothing drastic. It might have been a late entrant to the SUV/crossover segment but Peugeot is certainly making up for … The Peugeot 3008 has been a hugely significant model for the French brand over the past few years – because it was this car, and its larger Peugeot 5008 stablemate, that really introduced ‘new Peugeot’ back in 2016. Practicality All Peugeot 3008 reviews Page 1 of 6. Things are a bit firmer than in regular versions of the 3008 but, not uncomfortably so, however passengers will find themselves swaying in their seats more over uneven road surfaces. The tiny rim does make it easy to twirl the wheel as you slide the 3008 into parking spaces, though – a sign, if anything, of where the car’s focus lies. Peugeot 3008 GT 2017 review: weekend test 3 Oct 2017 by Dan Pugh There are plenty of tough, quality players in the mid-size SUV market, but the attractive looks, and a swag of European motoring awards, suggest the Peugeot 3008 GT … There are more spacious entries in the class, admittedly, but there’s still enough space in the Peugeot for four grown-ups and their assorted clutter.
